Snake Eyes

the viper's eyes mesmerize me
curling his coils tightly
holding me for his poison's sweet kiss
promising life abundantly
stealing it away from me
i wriggle and squiggle
breaking free from his grasp
and his beguiling eyes

hissing and thrashing about my escape
rattling his tail fiercely
chasing me with his fangs bared
promising my death
hiding his intentions no longer
i run and hide
hoping to be free from this asp
and those vicious eyes search for me

his slitherly pink tongue
promises and apologizes
giving the glimpse of humility
promising love through his vilolated fangs
intending my death, still
sliding his way along the rocky ground
i see and i know
nothing can change a serpant
