About
My Dragon

I wrote this poem the morning I changed my life. I know it may
sound silly that a single morning can do that, perhaps. But
mine changed completely. I wrote this the day I left my husband
of nearly 9 years. I chose the picture of a Dragon for
many reasons. They are mystical and mythical images of power.
That morning I rediscovered power within myself as I picked up
the pieces of my life to leave. The feeling was amazing. The
emotions were confusing. It must be like that when a bird is
learning to fly. Exciting, terrifying, exhilarating, and painful
all at the same time. I have no regret in waking my Dragon.
Nor will I ever let it sleep again.
